WIERD Presents the Very Rare Return of FRANK ALPINE with DJs Pre Op Trans, Hi-Fi Hillary, and Frankie Teardrop

I hope everyone enjoyed a lovely evening with the Young pleasures of one of Detroit's filthiest and finest last week. Masochistically beholding the sardonically disease-ridden embodiment of disgust, dread, and pure disappointment has never been more inexcusably sickening to sit through, what an horribly excellent night...how to follow that. VR.

Well seeing as 'that' is apparently the new IT, which as you all hopefully no(but never yes) by now never existed anyway, and neither does the sad, pixillated receptacle of abject abstraction known as you, the Very Rare World continues on into the wild night this evening! And this week the cadaverous carnival of Killed by WIERD intensity knows the best is the west for IT's third to last victim, and we're digging even further down into the funereal debasement of claustrophobic doom to welcome one of the absolute kings of primally warped electronic punk history as we present the return of FRANK ALPINE from Los Angeles, CA for a live performance at midnight! The great Mr. Rich Moreno has long been one of the truly crucial, eminently shadowy figures in the left coast's neverending and ever-expanding industrial and death rock undergrounds throughout all of his fantastically sinister, lonerwave visages such as The Boyscouts of Annihilation, New Collapse and The Centimeters. After releasing his bloodshot kickass self-titled debut in the fall of 2011 Mr. Alpine literally dropped off the face of the black earth. Word was he was dead, and maybe he knows too much and still is, but not everyone can be so lucky and get off that easy: nope uh uh, sorry gurl you ain't dead yet scrape your tired little broken body up and bring IT to the WIERD World one more time, the Very Rare is calling... But VRegardless, alive and Wierding or not - few if any trax have been consistently destroying the weekly party dancefloor more than icy torchers like "Night Sky", "Dark Places", and "No Exit" over the past year solid. So as a sendoff show of sorts for the band's forthcoming first ever European tour that kicks off next month, Rich and Quinn flew in this morning for this one-off gig. Needless to say the seethingly lascivious aether inside Ms. Chrystie 131 will be on fire tonight like never before, do not miss this one kids, IT may truly be your last, as IT never is...see you all very soon. WIERD Presents a Live Performance by Nate Young with DJs Miz Margo and Frankie Teardrop

We've had so many bands in our filthy little bouquet of black heaven the past blahzillion years I'm starting to feel maybe it's actually more VR not to have gotten VR than ITs opposite, which doesn't exist anyway, as ever, so...who's left out there?...anyone? Considering that it seems safe to assume we all agree there simply is no out of anywhere anymore, there's only one answer - so as a certain apocryphal prophet of arcane abstraction once said, tonight shall be dedicated to Those Who Do Not. And there are indeed a few shady slabs of infamous flesh with targets in their minds who have not, and evaded IT all for too long, as yet to be kidnapped by the Home Sweet WIERD to provide another unforgettable evening of pleasure for you all. Remember we will find you, and we found one of the remaining you's a few weeks ago...mmm hmm.

Tonight I'm excited to welcome the return of a great old friend I've been beVRating non-stop the last few years to get up on the our ever-precarious latenight stage solo to let IT rip, as WIERD presents a live performance by NATE YOUNG at midnight! This will be Nate's first appearance in the WIERD World since Wolf Eyes played that crazy show we put on back in 2008 with Absolute Body Control, Martial Canterel, and Carlos Giffoni at MHOW. Few figures have as much gravitas as the man who put the 'i' in Wolf(caps lock or not FTW) and honestly imagining the last decade of midwestern musical history without him is impossible at this point. Our beloved leathery lurker was so kind as to finally knock out the grueling 12 hour blaze through the frozen bleak swamp of February's night from Detroit early this morning to party inside the lovely Ms. Chrystie 131 at last, and he will be joined by Mr. Chris Durham(Roachclip/All Gone/ex-YOU) on synth to play trax off his new LP Between Worlds out now on Black Moss Recs.

Thank you to everyone who offered your condolences on the impending end of the WIERD this past weekend...four more parties to go. See you all in a few hours as we do IT all again. The first 50 people in the door get stabbed in the face for free so get there early. VR.

The Last WIERD Party at Home Sweet Home is Feb. 27th

On behalf of the Wierd World I wanted to let you all know that the last Wierd Party at Home Sweet Home will be on Wednesday, February 27th. We have staged 500+ events over the course of the last decade, and I feel we have achieved what we all set out to do together when the party began.

Needless to say, the idea of ending IT is a very complex proposition. For above all the one thing I have learned from the Wierd is that because IT is Very Rare - IT does not exist, and as a result ending IT is impossible. VR.

We have built a thorough archive of the party's history with all the fliers and weekly Wierd emails which is now live and up to date, check it out here: http://www.wierdrecords.com/liveevents/

Thank you for your devoted, undying interest and support all these years. I hope you enjoy the last month in the Wierd, we have an incredible set of shows lined up for February. See you all soon once again in our wild latenight world of the fog and the lights.

WIERD Presents Menses and Foreplay with DJs Avana & Frankie Teardrop

This week the wickedly lovely ladies of the BK's excellent new INVOCATION party January Hunt, Avana Vana and Jane Pain stage a full-on destruction of the WIERD World, as we welcome MENSES and FOREPLAY with guest DJ Avana for a chillingly slippery evening of darkly splendid electronic witchery at midnight! January's modular synthesis has been enshrouded in an arcane vacuum of extraordinary mystery for months deep down in the bunker of Invocation HQ and tonight will be her live debut. Needless to say being musically birthed up inside the identical mind of the month that IS your self is a wild proposition to wrap your little frigid face around - IT should be ontologically intense to behold indeed, as IT always is without fail. Foreplay is the new pummellingly prudish power electronics project of her majesty Ms. Pain and her burly beau, none other than the ever-restrained and impeccably mannered cabana boy of Life and Death VR himself Mr. Chris Hansell, and this will also be their NYC debut. WIERD has an endless history of abjectly aborting so many of the darkest and heaviest brilliant new electronic heretics out into the abstract aether of the external world over the past zillion years, come on out tonight as we do IT again, and bask in the prickly pleasures of the fetal future of the new frozen hot BK underground. LAZY MAGNET and BROWN RECLUSE ALPHA Live in the WIERD World with DJs Jane Pain and Hi-Fi Hillary

This week WIERD is excited to present an excellent evening with two of the most elusive and ultra-prolific major figures in the east coast's darkly splendid electronic underground and beyond for much of the past two decades, as we welcome LAZY MAGNET and BROWN RECLUSE ALPHA for a hot and heavy double bill at midnight! Their VRighnesses Mr. Lazy Harris(Meager Sunlight) and a Brown Reason to Forgues(CF/Kites/Mark Lord/Daily Life), flailing from Very Rarolina and Fort Thunder Island unrespectively have absolutely wasted the WIERD World with their erratically explosively energy several times over the years and having them both back under the same ragged roof again tonight together should be quite a rough and ready mess of inexcusable insanity. The evening will be presided over by none other than our beloved mistress of pleasure-seeking Pain and Hatred herself Ms. Jane Chardiet...check out the endless hours of sensorial delerium in the below links and see you all in the brutal bowels of the burly bitchy bilge tonight! LA MISMA and BLACK BOOT Live in the WIERD with DJs Ian Perdition and Frankie Teardrop

This week WIERD's infamously inexcusable, irVRegular fête of post-abstractionary nihilism Up the Punx Ass VReturns tonight as we welcome LA MISMA and BLACK BOOT for a wildly pustulating mess of a double bill at midnight! The four lovely young ladies of the explosively intriguing Mismatic world will rip your twitchily quivering face off with their sadistically sassy Portugese vox and blisteringly shredded guitars, and Black Boot are a bunch of grimy little studs from a few other g-beat bands you've seen a million times that sound exactly the same with a shittier name to boot, horray who cares Very Rare! The word from the gutter is Punk's not dead but you definitely are, so roll yr little fleshly garbage can of a (body) on down to the WIERD World tonight and prop IT up to spreadem for the corpse, and once and for all take IT like the man you never were gurl mmm hmm...VR.

PROFLIGATE and YOUNG MALE Live in the WIERD World Tonite with DJs Goutroy and Frankie Teardrop!

OK 2013 is off with a bang, and this weeks WIERD is dedicated to the ambitious young woman who last week accused me of objectifying the body of her email, VR. Needless to say this was a momentous event in the ongoing trials and tribulations of the lifestyles of the Very Rare and nonexistent flesh...I think 'I' all agree the physical body died years ago, the cold gods know IT is long gone at this point in the shady game. But when one day soon that forever lost, wildly confused blob of pleasure comes back alive in ITs triumphantly invisible death, the WIERD will (finally) become one with ITself at last, oooh we're getting sooo close, man ITs gettin hot in here mmm hmm, almost there...and you know what that means...stay tuned kiddies.

Tonight WIERD presents what has come to be our annual Philthydelphia Freedom Fest fest as we celebrate the sounds of most fantastically average city in the country! For this year's edition we're proud to welcome PROFLIGATE aka the great Mr. Noah Anthony, as well as YOUNG MALE from the BK who will open up the show. As the ghosts of the Sandwell District and minimal techno's blasted past have continued their slide in the trapdoor to the minimal synth world over the past couple years the electronics have become more pummellingly pixillated, dark, dirty and raw, and Noah's latest LP as well as his new 12" out on Not Not Fun is quite an excellent latenight floortorching mess. Come on down this evening as we kick off yet another year in the WIERD World...VR.

WIERD Holydaze Party 2012 Featuring the Return of Believer/Law with DJs Ryan DAIS and Frankie Teardrop

2012 is finally over, hooray who cares. IT's time to go make some very strategically composed, sad little year end 'lists' of all the mediafire links you downloaded on you sell and never clicked on and post IT to assure you alienate all your fake friends you never hang out with so they hate you even more than you secretly worry they already do. And OMG you're right - in fact everyone hates you, almost as much as you hate yourself. Well...maybe not that much, LOL. But have faith young man - there's always next year for that crowning achievement, you will get there, you can do IT, you know you can. But: you must work harder. Harder. HARDER. Yeah you like that shit baby. 'LIKE' IT. Yeah you know you do, come on, come on GIVE IT TO ME. You go gurl...hey owww whoa ow stop you're hurting meOW! stop IT, ew!

Right, excellent...ooh my that certainly was a lovely bit of spicy VRexcitement to start your WIERD yikes :0, my goodness get yrself together here lady. Ok. Happy holidays everyone! :)

Tonight we present our last live performance of the wildly alive mess that was VR2012 as WIERD welcomes the Very Rare return of BELIEVER/LAW for a live performance at midnight! Our beloved, eminently handsome young studs Mike and Erik have had quite the intensely electrifying blaze through the blurry fall season since their kickass party debut back in August, which had everyone in the audience triuphantly confused as to whether to dance or wail on each other til the glitterball blood ran black deep down in the foggy dead bilge of the beast. Since their shadily undertstated soundcloud exploded to rain down on you virtual device a couple months back B/L have been carefully slavin away in the sweaty cockpit at Heaven Street HQ with none other than the Blind Prophet of Ragon Youth himself, and at long last they will have two new cassettes of VRecorded material, forthcoming from the //cae-sur-a// and Robert & Leopold imprints, available for the first time at the party tonight! This is going to be good, gimme 50 push-ups and get yr queeny asses there early. See you all tonight. VR.

WIERD Presents the US Debut of Lust for Youth(Sacred Bones) with DJs Miz Margo, Taylor Rebecca, and Pre-Op Trans

First off just a quick reminder this week's WIERD can't lick itself. VR.

Season's Beatings from the WIERD World and Happy Holy Daze from the Holy Gaze of the Holey Gays! The gays have holes so you can put things inside and IT feels nice. The gaze has holes so you can't see IT and you have to look twice. IT doesn't exist anyway so what the fuck am I doing and who really cares. God knows you're sick as hell of this bitch slingin the Very Rares. So go walk your broken little bodies down the street and pay the shady lady Ms. Chrystie a visit tonight and this will all make even less sense than IT does now, something tells me she'll soon be ready to take a bow...mmm hmm.

This week WIERD and Sacred Bones present the US debut of LUST FOR YOUTH! The WIERD hasn't heard them yet, and the gaze IT nos obviously thereby hasn't seen them either, but a gay IT knows says they're hot :-0. Best bet I'd say is the name is all you need to yes...ahhh the pleasures of young flesh, so young and so cold in the fog and the lights...beautiful young Euro boys in leather from far far away with weird names and a Wierd sound...as always when 'i' chooses the left hand path pleasure is the law of the land...'i' knows you understand. THEOLOGIAN and JONATHAN CANADY Live in the WIERD Tonite with DJs Glenn, Christian Kount, and Frankie Teardrop

This week is destined to be hands-down the most fantastically crushing assault of pure death industrial synthesis the party has ever known, as WIERD welcomes THEOLOGIAN and JONATHAN CANADY for a blood-blackening double bill at midnight. Theologian's latest LP Finding Comfort in Overwhelming Negativity came out a few months back on his VRexcellency Mr. R. Loren's ever-venerable Handmade Birds imprint and as far as my ears heard was the heaviest and darkest industrial/noise release of 2012 by a mile, nothing really came close honestly. And as if that wouldn't have been enough to hold him for a couple years, which it would have, Leech dropped another full-length album a month later entitled The Chasms of My Heart on Crucial Blast that, though it had a bit more space under the ice to breathe, was nearly as brutal...not a bad year I'd say for the parasitic master of hopelessness. For this VR occasion Theologian will be performing as a trio with a live drummer and the great Fade Kainer from Batillus/Inswarm on electronics, amen.

Our long-time friend Jonathan Canady(of Deathpile/Dead World/Angel of Decay/Diamond Cult etc.) has for two solid decades now been an absolute pillar in the international power electronics and death industrial underground, and is no stranger to the WIERD World, having last graced NYC with his presence when his project Sexual Assault Rifle with the lovely Ms. SQ played the party back in 2010. He is one of the busiest men I know across the cultural landscape between both his music and painting practice, and has long been an inspiration above all as he's always pushing his sound further and further out from the Dead World womb where it began. Following his wild 30 track film soundtrack The Mind released in 2010, his most recent perplexingly bizarre, intra-terrestrial gem of a release yet Composite Soundtracks came out last month and the K7 sold out in a day apparently, and is the most composed, restrained, yet completely demented, mindmelting departure from his musical roots to date. I swear the middle 5 mins of "Composite Video(Edit)" sounds like a baby dolphin has waddled out of the San Diego Seaworld into the parking lot and connivingly reversed the flow on an old Harley's exhaust pipe and is drunkenly draining IT flippers to the metal all the way down to Tijuana like a 2 year old high on Ensenada's finest high end custom kazoo taco, what the fuck is this music, intense. So come on out to the WIERD tonight and see for yourself kiddies - between the 3 of them Lee, Fade and Dr. Deathpile have consistently produced so many incredible releases and live music events over the years it would take pages to even start listing them all here. Suffice it to say tonight should rightly be a long-overdue tribute to each of their amazing efforts. Enter the WIERD and bask in the shadows of the sound...that is the true pleasures of death. VR.

WIERD Welcomes the VReturn of PINKISH BLACK with DJs Zee Baaron de Montaigne, Dave Castillo, and Frankie Teardrop

It's beyond Very Rare in the post-everything age that a band comes along that puts on a show that truly kicks your ass and offers a glimmer of hope that maybe the ever-impotent 'name the poison of influences' game isn't the only way left to process and let new music enter your world...that being through ingesting it solely with the brain to cerebrally encode and instantly shut it down it with a bland amalgam of tired names from the past...never allowing the vibrations of sound do what music was created for thousands of years ago - to wash over your body and decimate your nervous system to allow you to feel...as the few, best things in life always do. VR.

Pinkish Black was one of the few bands that did this to me this year when they drove up from Fort Worth, TX to play the crazily bloody, fogged out sweatbox of a Northside fest mess that Dave, Brandon, and I put on at Vitus back in June, which they kicked off by blazing through their self-titled debut album from start to finish in what felt like 7 minutes. Within the first few verses of the first song your mind has already cycled through so many putrified, incongruous corpses from the past that you realize controlling one of one of the darkest and heaviest rock outfits without a stringed instrument in recent memory by scraping this long torched flesh out of the fire is clearly entirely futile - leave it to rot and burn, and sit back and enjoy the show. Daron and Jon have been playing together a long time and simply know their shit, and when Daron lets the falsetto vox rip and float miles out over a pustulating arsenal of shredded low-end synths backed by a thunderous blizzard of live drums there's really nothing left to do but turn off the aching muscle in your head and let the pleasure of it all seep in...not sure if IT's that of death or life, but it's definitely real, and odds are you're likely not so so maybe IT's too real to feel...which as you all know the IT always is, and in which case stay home and google yrself into the ground. Seriously this band is fuckin great, come on out and party tonight, and get VReady for another excellent evening in the WIERD World...

Brave Exhibitions(Berlin) and WIERD Present the WIERD 9 Year Anniversary With Led Er Est and DJs Blix, Hi-Fi Hillary, and Frankie Teardrop

IT was on this shady day exactly 42 years ago the WIERD reluctantly crawled out from the dark fleshly warmth of the womb to enter the bleak cesspool of suffering that is this cold abstract world. It opened IT's eyes and looked up at the black sky, and thought something has been lost and is missing :-/ ...IT must devote ITs life to building a new womb for the world to get IT back - that Very Rare place where people can enjoy each other and come alive, forever free together in the wild kingdom of the night...VR.

And so tonight once again that ever-infamous day has arrived as WIERD and Brave Exhibitions present the WIERD 42nd Anniversary Party with a live performance by our beloved long time VRiends LED ER EST and guest DJ Blix, aka the lovely Ms. Jen Ellerson, who has kindly flown in from Berlin for this excellent occasion!

WIERD Presents the Debut Live Performance by TIERS with DJs Jane Pain, Avana, and Frankie Teardrop

This week WIERD presents the long-awaited debut live performance by TIERS with guest DJs Jane Pain and Avana! This week WIERD presents a solidly classic evening of spastically anxious maximal electronic discomfort as we welcome FEATURELESS GHOST from frozen Hotlanta and the great Mr. NAO KATAFUCHI from Tokyo via Trenton via medium rare Hamburg with a thide of flies or wherever the hell our beloved ever-mysterious in-house genius is really from, that all depends on what you mean by 'from' I suppose, MR. FG's excellent new LP Personality Matrix is out today on Iowa City's always great Night People label and Nao's long-awaited debut album Yumegoto came out last week as well so there's gonna be a lot of crazy new sounds flyin around in the foggy-fresh midnight vortex. Apart from the much needed rather kinky 4th wall brain freeze that accords both viewer and performer live in the abstracted present together when he takes our latenight stage each year to be there Nao, yes the VRumours are true MRk is indeed the eminently charismatic and chillingly stoic official voice of the Japanese audiotour for MoMA's permanent collection - I challenge any of you to out-VR that one. I DL'd a cracked version of IT off mediafire and walk around the city listening everyday lately and still don't understand a thing I'm looking at, the big IT wins again surprise surprise. Though I highly recommend track 52 by late Cezanne on the third floor live on the Mt. St. Victoire tour, good stuff doesn't get any more analogue than that as you feel the pleasures of the wild black earth come alive beneath your feet mmm hmm. Check out the below links a lot of great zeros and ones to grab and enjoy kiddies. See you all this evening hopefully IT will be your last, time to die in our merry lair, who cares. Very Rare.

Lights Out on the HalloWIERD World Tonite...

Happy Halloween from the Very Rare World of the WIERD...

Well apparently the rather precocious and unfortunately ambitious Ms. Sandy made quite an impression on NYC indeed with her first ever east coast tour this past week, leaving our lovely little world dauntingly delectrified, having lost all power to come alive this evening with the amazing Bellicose Minds 4000 miles away. Ambition is a dangerous thing, I've always told the youngsters stop fucking trying so hard and just relax and enjoy yourselves and the night will flow and unfold exactly as you always dreamed IT would, alas.

The WIERD party will return next week wed. Nov. 7th with a double bill of explosive dark synth pleasures featuring Featureless Ghost from Atlanta and the great Mr. Nao Katafuchi from Japan via the Preuss region of planet Xanten, BK. VR. http://www.facebook.com/events/353383304754763/

WIERD Presents MARTIAL CANTEREL Live in the WIERD World with DJs Syb Vish, Max Labor, and Frankie Teardrop

Tonight WIERD proudly welcomes the return of our beloved friend and hero MARTIAL CANTEREL for a live performance at midnight! This will be Sean's first show in the vaporous body of the VR bunker since March, and he will be playing a new set of trax off of his limited edition CDep Empire which was available exclusively on the MC European tour in August. Empire plays out through a series of six interconnected vignettes of modern medievalism that weave an incredibly imaginative allegorical narrative of love, loss, inaccessibility and missed connections, and is a chilling humanistic ode for a darkly splendid, dematerialized world. You can order one of the handful of remaining CDs or download the album from our long-time allies at Hidden Treasure in Germany below. I hope everyone can make it out this evening for an excellent night of classic old school WIERD splendour, where everything is eminently available, connected, electrified, and alive with seething flesh and blood pleasure. "WIERD Turns 500" Party with Tobias Bernstrup Live and DJs Avana, Goutroy, and Frankie Teardrop

This is a Very Rare week indeed as tonight is WIERD's 500th party!

Despite the fact I try my best to remember all that the WIERD does, I've never been much of a fan of counting, or even numbers, or keeping track of things in general - the cold gods know its so difficult in a day and age where there's so little to grab on to. But earlier this year out of simply trying to process the past in order to continue forward, maybe what could only be called perverse VRuriosity considering how many months and endless hours IT took to account for every week's musical activities since the beginning, I began going through boxes of archival ephemera, dusty cdrs and email folders of fliers, correspondences and playlists, and a slowly fading, eminently blurry, and all but totally destroyed memory. And with the help of Hillary and Frankie's as always hugely generous efforts we've put together a pretty nice archive of the WIERD World from 2002 to today which we have built into the website. Enjoy:
http://www.wierdrecords.com/liveevents/

In looking back at the last decade I still really don't know what to feel. With so many people choosing to act out a life abstracted alone in the virtual aether over the life affirming pleasures of the true flesh and blood of the night in res extensa, it's often more and more difficult to tell exactly who is alive sometimes nowadays. In light of this I suppose I'm incredibly thankful so many of you are still coming out week after week, I'm proud to have lived through all the wild nights with all of you guys, and proud to honestly still be alive (which I'm quite certain I am), and I'll never forget IT all...even though, as always, IT never existed in the first place. Alas, onward. VR.

For tonight's festivities there is noone more perfect to mark the occasion as he was amongst the first live performances we ever had in the party's early daze in the BK, and tonight WIERD welcomes the long-overdue return of our dear friend the great Mr. TOBIAS BERNSTRUP from Stockholm, Sweden for a live performance at midnight! This will be Tobias's first NYC show since he last played the party in 2008, and with the four excellent trax he contributed to the WIERD compilations I and II, many solidly throbbing and infectious albums, 12"s and EPs, and a few pages of solo museum shows and gallery exhibitions in the likes of Egypt, China, Japan, Turkey, Mexico, and Russia, our lovely latex, leather and PVC clad hero of the gender dysphoric landscape has spanned the globe the last 5 years. Following his amazing performance at the opening of his new show at Utah MOCA this past week, he's back to once again grace us with his presence and inhabit his latest character. See you all this evening to celebrate 500 nights in the WIERD World...

Wierd and DAIS Records Present Cold Showers Live with DJs Miz Margo and Frankie Teardrop

Tonight the WIERD is once again tearin up the night with our long-time allies Ryan and Gibby from DAIS Records to present the COLD SHOWERS Love and Regret record release party! These young restrained merchants in L.A.'s seemingly neverending, rich lineage of cryptically brittle gloom and doom have been out on the road playing their debut LP to jam packed houses across the nation with the likes of Soft Moon, The Raveonettes, and The Jesus and Mary Chain, and despite the heat bein cut, they've been steamin up the sad sticky rest room that is the past year following excellent early singles on Art Fag and Mexican Summer. Love and Regret is a solidly dark and driving psychedelic rock record that hauls your shady latenight ass down the long left lost highway of La Vague Froide classique with blurry paisley rainbows and trailers ablaze. Fans of everything from Marquis de Sade to Medicine to Loop to The Warlocks will be lost in an explosively lysergic bouquet of black orchids for hours, come on down and get into IT before the IT gets you. Which as you a should well know by now, IT already did. You're fucked. VR.

And speaking of the neverending trials and tribulations of the VR, this evening will also be inordinately RV, climb on into my tiny little re-creational vehicle that is the night that awaits you, and and I will explain.

For years now many of you have been relentlessly berating the WIERD as to when exactly I will finally perform at the party. Well you'll all be delighted to hear at long last IT turns out tonight's the night! - I will be opening the show, literally, right there by the door, won't you come inside? IT's my big night at last, and I must say I'm a bit nervous...but as unfortunately I cannot make IT this evening, I am making IT up to you all by taking center stage...on the banner that is. "Hey wait, who's the 'her' that got banned? She's not coming, why the hell'd you banner, wtf?", you cry out in the cold. "Why IT is me", I lament, "Ms. VRp", foiled and abstracted again...alas.

So...I really hope you all enjoy my performance this evening, god knows I'm right here in the middle how could you possibly miss me? Please let me know how I am, I'm simply dying to know??? I wish I could be here, but as you know I remain Very Rare, so...my goodness all this leaning to the right is making me dizzy (go Barack!), ugh I need a drink. Needless to say:

IT is officially going to be WEIRD tonight...see you all back in the WIERD World next week, I will be back, stage left, hiding out in the shadows where I forever don't belong. RV.

WIERD Presents KONTRAVOID Live with DJs Ralf Thyssen, Hi-Fi Hillary and Miz Margo

The VOID remains perhaps the only thing left in the World that is truly is real, the only problem is IT doesn't exist, VR. As established in the pleasures of death that play out on the multiply POV'd rollercoaster of an evacuated self that is Gaspar Noé's 2009 masterpiece, entering the void allows you to finally realize all the joys that your sadisticly venomous, tired black mind desires - you can float through coreten walls, brutally execute your whiny little neighborhood cokedealer, or passionately sodomize your beautiful younger sister, fun stuff. Regardless of ITs twitchily noncommittal existential status, after being graced by the lovely Ms. Shari Rari's undeniably dazzling performance last week, clearly the end-all allure of the void has seduced the WIERD World. And the Voidly Visionary latenight lifestyles of your abstracted and digitally compressed body continue this evening with part two as WIERD proudly welcomes the US Debut of KONTRAVOID from Toronto, with guest DJ the great Ralf Thyssen of Germany's longstandingly legendary "Pagan Lovesongs" Party! Kontravoid is the mysteriously enmasked moniker of the new solo project of former Crystal Castles, Trust, and Parallels drummer Cam Findlay who released his self-titled debut LP back in February on Tarantula X Records and he's out on the road playing its seethingly pummeling high-end-heavy collection of 9 dark, dirty and delicious classic industrial dance trax for the first time. Remember contra or not, you simply cannot resist the Void...ITs inside you and is the essence of your life, and its too real to feel. So best you simply give in and let IT out for a few hours, the cold gods know you deserve a fukin break things are rough out there. See you all this evening...VR.

WIERD Presents VOID VISION Live with DJs Justin(The Soft Moon) and Frankie Teardrop

This week's WIERD is dedicated to all you vegetarians brutally plagued by that dreaded early morning guilt that comes after drunkenly melting your mouse with your hair straightener. Rest assured the WIERD is here for you in your darkest hours such as this. VR.

Tonight WIERD proudly welcomes our unabashedly beloved long-time VRiend and hands-down dark synth queen of the Philthydelphia scene the lovely Ms. Shari Vari, who will be making her long-overdue return to the party as VOID VISION for a live performance at midnight! Forever tenured in the WIERD World for putting on some of the most memorably spine-chilling vocal performances we've ever had the past few years, Shari has been elusively sequestered away behind the thin ice wall of the Delaware Water Gap for most of the past year putting the finishing touches on her highly anticipated debut album which we've been waiting for forever IT seems, and which will finally see the light of night early next year. And to make the Void more invisionary than ever we'll be joined by a bay area all-star cast of guest djs including birthday boy the legendary Mexican playboy extrordinaire and master of taboo enjoyments Mr. Omar Perez, as well as our good friend Justin Anastasi from The Soft Moon who's in town in anticipation of the SM US tour which starts in tomorrow in the BK.

Tonight is also a truly special evening as we bid farewell to one of my absolute favorite people in the entire world since we met deep in the dirty black heart of the Southside Lounge in the earliest years of the party circa 2003, the beautifully charismatic Ms. Jeralyn Mason, before she makes a very high-profile departure for Lost Angeles. Beyond being one of the most gifted DJs in effortlessly commanding the magic of a latenight VR dancefloor like few I've ever know her majesty Veryrarealyn emanates a life-affirming energy that has sensitized the air of this fragile world week after week for years, and she will sadly be missed. Honestly I'd go on forever about the amazing Ms. J, but speaking as a long-time Angeleno something tells me she'll be back...ITs simply not right - never fails that people this special and wildly alive get bored with the left coast in five minutes, LA's simply not worthy. We love you darling see you in a few months. XO :)

WIERD Presents a Live Performance by MERCHANDISE(Tampa/FL) with DJs Ning Nong and Frankie Teardrop

So...from last week's flier maybe you've inferred, and as I mentioned (here) earlier this year there's been a six figure offer on the table for quite some time now to permanently move WIERD outa IRL unVReality and into the interactively nihilistic tornado of virtual abstraction known as Second Life where IT could live forever online, VR. So after months of pervily-internal debate with myselves, I gave in and finally had a Skype conference call with the sketchily-slippery eastern Euro dudes who run this world over the weekend and you know - hey they actually seemed pretty cool and kinda fun to party with, who woulda thought LOL? But as I told them, a second simply irresistible offer came in I never could have anticipated earlier this week from my ultra-savvy two year old niece to move the WIERD World to her epicly killer new beyond baroque dirty dollhouse in New Hampshire complete with tiny fogmachine and 1:32 scale models of all your fave WIERD stars - Martial, Sneaky, Pre-Op, Jasper - she's gottem all and you can collectem and play with them and her little VRiends whenever you want mmm hmm! I'm thinking we'll most likely make the move in late Nov., and just an early heads up FYI the colored vinyl version of the Pre-Op dolls are nearly sold out in pre-orders and you know she's a popular gurl and not cheap so better count your coins! And just to clarify, contrary to VRumours unfortunately we still won't be able to do all ages...I know I know :( ...anyone over 3 MUST be accompanied by a toddler, so get yr fake IDs asap! At first I must admit I was indeed hesitant to finally amend WIERD's post-Learyly Very waryan long-standing ethos of 'don't trust anyone under 30' with 'don't trust anyone over 3' because you can't talk to them...but then I remembered you can't talk to 90% of everyone you 'know' anyway so its cool. I think we're good...that being anything but thaid - in other words 'Live free or die' is the new 'Kill Yrself to Live': Viva New Hampshire - All future roads lead to babyland backwards and downwards! :0

Ok school's back in session today full-on kiddies all kinds of taboo pleasures await you in the shady lady latenite playpen of pleasure this fall! Tonight WIERD kicks off the new VR season with the long-awaited weekly party debut of MERCHANDISE from Tampa, FL for a live performance at midnight! ITs been inordinately clear from so many of the incredible performances we've had the honor of hosting the past year from the likes of Anasazi, RØSENKØPF, VÅR, Believer/Law etc. that the mass exodus of the hardcore and punk undergrounds have almost single-handedly spiritually re-energized the coldest waves of the new post-abstractionery post-punk world, and these guys have a post-hardcore pedigree to bludgeon anyone in the pit. God knows we coulda used them during that massive 12 dude bloodbath of a brawl we had at 2am following the Future Blondes show a few weeks back (which safe to say was the worst in 10 years on the LES and which Jasper and I have been tryin to figure out how to sync up all the security cams in edits on to premiere for you all soon for the most intense VR WIERD live vid ever stay tuned...), and have been venerably doin IT on their own terms for a long fuckin time. Now long outa the pit, yet still in the van and and showerlessly showered up and ultra-sensitized to chill yr spine and icily inspire, the new Merchandise LP entitled Desire finally arrived a few weeks ago on Adam Whites's Katorga Works label and the band is out on the road playin ITs explosively gut-wrenchingly romantic tales of hope and love gone lost for the first time...get there early if you want to get a glimpse of the elusively frozen hot waves of fragile Floridian action...this dollhouse isn't big enough for all your VRiends, even if they don't exist at all. Which they don't. Rest unassured. VR.

Tonight WIERD welcomes the VReturn of SILENT DIANE from Austin, TX for their first live performance at the weekly party since 2010! Aprile's and Eli melted our icy tequillulated, long-horned minds with their amazing balancing act of tear-shatteringly delicate, crystalline vocals floating over a pulsing bunker of analogue wizzardry on day one of the WIERD summit at Chaos in Tejas in June, and they've been in town for a few shows including the jam-packed sweatfest at MOMA PS1's warm up series this past weekend, and are set to blaze through a wild new set of trax from their forthcoming full-length in the works and due out early next year. And just to make sure its thexxxy-trendier than ever ITs Ladies night and our fave young downtown IT gurls of the moment Rexi and Georgette are skippin in to shade out the scene! WIERD Presents COSMETICS and MEAGER SUNLIGHT with DJs Jane Pain and Frankie Teardrop

So...VRumours have It a chill may in fact finally be in the rair after many brutally hot and blahthered months down here in the shadylady bunker, and we're yawningly considering rearin our twitchy ole bledheads to peak outa the trapdoor and even maybe go out there...yeah right, maybe next week - despite Its eminently unHerculean efforts the WIERD still hasn't figured out how to see ITs prickcellated shadow on the laptop maybe ITs panties are too tight oooh...ahhh thats better...hmm, no shadows just a few cute little stains mmm hmm, not sure if that counts...whatever stay tuned, deathrock daddy's goin back to bed nite nite zzz...

OK. Riiight. Anyway the trials and tribulations of the lifestyles of the radically confusing and glamourously uncomfortable continue on into the lovely misty night tonight and this week the WIERD World presents an excellent evening of pure minimal electronic magic with COSMETICS(Vancouver/CAN) and MEAGER SUNLIGHT(Providence/RI) Live with Guest DJ Jane Pain! This will be Cosmetics first live performance at the party since 2010 and they'll be breakin out the witch hazel and white gloves to un-couver the make-up on a whole new set of thpooky echo-laden trax. We've been eagerly awaiting the WIERD debut of Meager Sunlight since their amazing debut split 12" with Skeleton Warrior entitled Seasons of Nudity dropped last year on Josh Plotkin's great new More Records Imprint out of Tampa that topped our list of 2011's maximally synthetic best. MS is the latest project of the great Jeremy Harris, one of the grand wizards of the Providencial noise kingdom for much of the last decade who's been an absolute pillar holding the Northeast scene together through the Fort Thundering likes of Lazy Magnet and the incredible Daily Life with his excellency Mr. Mark Lord who destroyed the WIERD last year...I highly recommend this record with its long black ice-torching, wildly psychedelic, expansively fragile songs. Its great to have a new a whole new dark synth landscape that has opened up with MORE from the like of Container, Profligate, Unicorn Hard-On, and Outmode. Please pay a visit to the label site below and grab the new comp. its solid indeed. And perhaps above IT all this evening we're graced by the truly lovely Ms. Pain who makes her long-awaited WIERD DJ debut! You've seen our belovedly unchained wild child looking down from her charmed perch as gatekeeper in Lord Castillo's Castle Vitus and felt her anti-IT girl magnetism planting harshnoise bombs with flashes unfurled in the filthy-fierce basement of the Red Light District week after week, rigorously chronicled on her eminently energetic site below where endless hours of taboo pleasures unfold. Tonight's gonna be a good one, see you all in the WIERD...VR.

ARCTIC FLOWERS(PDX) and MURDERER Live in the WIERD with DJs Søren, Keegan and Glenn

As the cold cackling gods throw the VR dice with drunken delight from on ultra bleak high to stir and swirl our festeringly steamy black pot of latenight pleasure to pummel and compress the punk, noise and coldwave worlds into a fantastically reprehensible mess of putrefaction and death, our lovely little scatterbrained debutante of cocktail party delight stumbles on into the 3 hottest weeks of the year tonight as WIERD proudly welcomes the amazing ARCTIC FLOWERS for a live performance at midnight! We've been tryin to get this wickedly elusive band with an epic anarcho punk PDX pedigree, who've recently tightened the shackles and cracked the sticky whip into creepy crawlin the Skeletally Familial, Ghostily Dancing echoes of UK post-punk and LA deathrock's taboo baggage, to slide on into the WIERD for a long fuckin time. And finally at long last they're rollin into NYC today with the Crazily Spirited lascivious member of Viagarous manlove that is MURDERER and the hot fresh cabana boy dj flesh of Søren, Keegan and Glenn good-to-go at midnight. So come on in and climb 'Up the Punx Ass' once again this evening where you'll hopefully never belong, should be a wild one for the VRecord books. WIERD Presents an Eminently Inexcusable Evening with FUTURE BLONDES with DJs Miz Margo and Frankie Teardrop

For everyone who's been mourning the WIERD days of danger and despair when the bodily fluids ran free and alive onstage and the electricity shot out of all artistitial orifices into your minds as you blissfully took it like the man your always wanted to be, this WIERD's for you. Since the Sado-Texastic invasion began last fall word's been out down in the hot skuzzmatic dustbowl the VR world's hungry for filth, and I must say they've been one uppin themselves over and over for months now, quite impressively I might add mmm hmm. But the most eminently unacceptable of all these inexcusably taboo characters has been bored and relaxing, smirking the daze away out on the back porch laughing at our sorry sore asses from on low for years now, week after week...so without VRurthur ado tonight WIERD at long last welcomes the weekly party debut of FUTURE BLONDES for a live performance at midnight! I've been tryin to figure out who the hell the amazing Domokos has playin in the band with him on this tour but hes a triumphantly shady lady who's hard to track down, like the kind of dude who emails you to get your girlfriend's email to 'collaborate with her a new experimental split cassette project'...then you get a groin-curdling 4am phonecall a week later from a rest stop in Southern Ohio where shes duct taped to a pipe in the basement :O...Yes, right lovely. Anyway, I'm trying to find the band late last night so I skip out into the bushwacked night down to Heaven Street and none other than the Blind Prophet himself president VRagon is splayed out bottomless dressed like a Krishna hangin upside down by one ankle from the ceiling surrounded by a bunch of cacklin drunk old SF queens in cowboy hats and chaps gigglin with terrifying glee all smackin his skinny redhot mounds around with a leather double dong like he's a 3rd grade DIJ pinata. King Domo is in the corner blasting crustily-shredded shrieks out of a sticky cheap mixer, there's a few young pasty boys covered in flour in the corner asleep under a dirty towel, a big pile of boiled asparagus on top of an empty case of Bordeaux, and a huge jar some sort of freshly minted magenta jelly melting and oozing off the table onto the a pile of mics on the cement floor. "Oh look who it is ha!, big surprise. You missed the party man...figures, you always miss IT...whatever, New York sucks."

Heedless to gay, NSFWierd tonight kiddies...see you all in the golden bowels of the misty lonestar lady, dare to be rare and beware, she's lookin for love in all the wrong places...VR

WIERD Presents a Triumphantly Bleak Evening with BELIEVER/LAW with DJs Ryan DAIS and Frankie Teardrop

So Google just announced they have hired an official 'philosopher' who lives in NYC, and I'm proud to announce that the chic who does his laundry has recently become a WIERD regular. As you all know the WIERD has long postulated like clockwork there is a direct proportional relationship between the weight of one's overhead outside and the surface area of one's underwear inside, so it goes without sayin yours black and bluely had to find out exactly what fashions the master of outside-less abstraction with nothin overhead to speak 'of' had goin on down in the taboo southern VRegions. I approached our newest Québécois import nervously last week, praying for once I was right...and in hopes she'd not reply with an answer of 'briefs' to my foil my theory and query on the prophet of transparency, I took my time, tip toeing slowly..."Hey don't you work for Google Philosophy and hang at Laundry Depot on Bushwick and Myrtle?"...as hoped for my advanced search for the 'goin commando' grail of secrets unearthed an invisible mindfield: "Excuse me, What? Ugh sorry, no. I think you're mistaken, but hi my name is Claire." VR.

Ok, right. Excellent. So in honor of the the lovely fact that the most brutally hot, blahthered and miserable month of the year has arrived once again as you wake up screaming in a pool of black sweat day after day in the not-so-frozen ghetto, tonight WIERD proudly welcomes the weekly party debut of one of the most fantastically dark and triumphantly bleak duos in New York BELIEVER/LAW for a live performance at midnight! B/L is the new latent EBM-shredded death industrial project of Michael Berdan, who fronts in the likes of York Factory Complaint and Youth Attack hardcore heavyweights Veins with the great Mr. Mark McCoy, and Erik Proft of ritualistic industrial outfit Kama Rupa. These guys have only played a few shows but the few trax floatin around in the abstract aether are an incredibly venomous, pulsing, electrically whip-slashed mélange of the best of mid-90s Zoth Ommog style EU EBM, early Italian power electronics and classic minimal synth, should be a wild night. The band just wrapped up a new K7 on the way from Ryan Martin's Robert & Leopold imprint, and his excellency Mr. King DAIS himself will be on hand for a guest DJ set behind the WIERD wheels of disease-VRidden pleasure. See you all stomped and bloody thrown deep in the shadows of the shady lady pit, where "kill yrself to live" is the only law of the VR land...believe IT, but who cares you don't even exist anyway.

WIERD Presents VAURA's Acoustic Variations with DJs Hayden Payne and Frankie Teardrop

Tonight WIERD welcomes the return of VAURA to the weekly party for a live performance at midnight! This will be the band's first live performance since April, and we're all doomed to be in for a Very Rare evening indeed as they will play a set of all-acoustic renditions of their debut double LP opus Selenelion which came out on the WIERD back in feb. For anyone who missed their show at The Stone this past spring where they premiered this lush arsenal of 12 string extravagance, this will likely be your last opportunity to see the black sun rise delectrified. Following the amazing chill-inducing evening in which he joined Genesis and Martial Canterel on stage in the WIERD as Psychic TV last summer, Kevin's recent solo shows have continually been quite the mindblowing demonstrations of shimmeringly triple jointed technical wizardry to behold. Check out the new in-depth interview with Josh on the making of the album and its intricately elusive multivalent universe of themes and occultations thanks to our friends at Cvlt Nation below. VR.

WIERD Presents INDIAN JEWELRY(Houston/TX) Live with DJs Glenn, Hi-Fi Hillary, and Jonathan Toubin

Tonight I'm proud to finally welcome one of my long-time personal favorite, absolutely fucking kickass live bands of the entire last decade I've always hoped we could have roll into town and destroy the place, and after seeing them blow the roof off Vitus last month in font of a jam packed house at the Northside fest's WIERD/Show No Mercy Showcase, no doubt the lone star dustbowl of oversexed drugwave destruction's all goin down at last this evening as WIERD presents a live performance by the amazing INDIAN JEWELRY from Houston, TX at midnight!!! Erika, Tex and the rest of the Swarm of Angels family crew who god knows have made up so many darkly splendid Texcentric bands in recent years from Twisted Wires to The Electric Set to Coxcombs, VRS, Future Blondes et al skuzzfinitum it's hard to even know where to start...The band has a new LP on the way in Sept. entitled Peel It they'll be debuting songs off of tonight for the first time along with a few burners from 2010's excellent Totaled...VRuffice IT to say IJ have been an inspiring pillar of hot and dirty pure rock and roll sexual intensity keeping the deep south alive and Very Rare for a long time, they're better looking than you and they don't even care, and tonight will be a serious party. To make things extra VR we're on the Night Train all Wierd long as our old friend the great Mr. JONATHAN TOUBIN will be swinging by for a guest DJ appearance and its Glenn's Birthday, so come on down and offer your condolences to the lifetime Cold Wave King of NYC who built our Home Sweet World!

WIERD Presents the US Live Debut of FEMMINIELLI(Montreal) with DJs Ryan DAIS, Anarexia and Frankie Teardrop

I know many of you have been eagerly awaiting this week's show for a long time now as WIERD proudly welcomes one of North America's darkest, dirtiest and most lusciously lascivious best kept electronic secrets FEMMINIELLI from Montreal for his US live debut at midnight! Right behind the BK and south central Texas, from the recent sounds of un-vaguely froidetastic new bands such as Spastic Joy, Police des Moeurs and of course our beloved Automelodi Mon Royale clearly has the one of the hottest underground minimal synth scenes in the world right now. One of the co-conspirators behind the Los Discos Enfantasmes label who has released many solidly seething full-lengths from the likes of Hobo Cult, Fixture, and Digitalis, Bernardino and co. have been at the heart of this heat-seekingly frigid Quebequois nexus for years. The band just wrapped up recording a new album which they'll be playing trax from this evening along with songs off of their last amazing limited K7 Sprezzatura released a while back which immediately reached ultVRa cult status on the venerable Robert & Leopold cassette label run by our long tenured ally the great Mr. Ryan Martin of DAIS Records, who will be making a Very Rare guest DJ appearance tonight. Summoning the long lost, swaggeringly charismatic international playboy heros of generations of flâneurs past, Femminielli truly conjurs the mindmelting mantra to an incredibly hot summer night in the wild life of a modern Mediterranean hustler, all roofied up and ready for neverending hours of pleasure in the shadows of the sheets with enough italo disco beats, minimally synthetic spanks, and VRarely raw Kraut sequenced spurts to seduce any of you boys and gurls to join him for a night you'll never remember, or ever forget...ooh I know its so bad you shouldn't but noone has to know shhh, mmm hmm come on let's go! :O...VR.

WIERD Presents Troller and Thousand Foot Whale Claw Live with DJs Goutroy and Frankie Teardrop

The cold gods well know that Austin/Houston/Denton Texas nexus has slowly been growing into the most rock solid kick ass underground minimal electronics scene in the world outside of the BK bunker, and the WIERD has been eminently fortunate to have hosted so many incredible artists from this rapidly expanding landscape over the past few years. And from the looks of the forthcoming weekly party schedule in the months to come the lone star synthwave world is only continuing its domination with live performances on the way from Indian Jewelry, Future Blondes, Survive, and Silent Diane. Tonight WIERD welcomes two of the newest bands in the Austin dark synth lonerwave lexicon TROLLER and THOUSAND FOOT WHALE CLAW for a double live bill at midnight! After seeing TFWC's fantastic performance on day one of Chaos in Tejas supporting Martial Canterel and Chelsea Wolfe, we're excited to havem back in the icy house this evening. So after you blow your sweatily wasted sorry excuse for a face off with an M80 at the Very Rare Independence Gay Party that is you this afternoon, stumble right on in on the bloody black summer ice and let the sadistically shady Mr. Jones and the rest of the TX crew throw you back in the chair and put you into your brutally deep misery!

WIERD Presents a Live Performance by Rochester, NY Cult Legends ELEVEN POND with DJs Hi-Fi Hillary, Pre-Op Trans, and Frankie Teardrop

Few bands have held as much importance in providing the soundtrack and spirit to the history of the WIERD Party than this week's performers, and after years of trying to make this show possible, at long last I'm proud to finally welcome them into the Very Rare World. So it is with pleasure that tonight WIERD presents a live performance by Rochester, NY minimal electronic cult legends ELEVEN POND for a live performance at midnight! Active in upstate New York for a just a few brief years in the mid-80's Eleven Pond released one incredible, ultra limited edition LP entitled Bas Relief on Game Hen Records in 1986 which has since become one of the true jewels in the crown of American dark underground music history. Over 20 years after the record's release the band emerged from the frozen depths when our good friend Josh Cheon of Dark Entries Records in San Francisco reissued the album in 2009 and its icy electronic pop masterpiece of a lead single "Watching Trees" exploded into the abstract aether with an appearance as the pride of the WIERD Presents: Cold Waves and Minimal Electronics Part I 2xLP/CD compilation a year later to destroy latenight dancefloors worldwide for generations to come, cementing its place as one of the hands-down greatest dark dance trax ever.

This evening Eleven Pond will perform as a duo featuring the great Jeff Gallea, who has flown in from LA for the show, on synth and vocals and original drummer Tim Masick on drums, and Jeff tells me they will be playing nearly the entire record live just for this VR occasion. Needless to say this will be a very special night for the WIERD World we'll most certainly never forget, and I hope everyone can make it out!

WIERD Welcomes the Long-Overdue VReturn of LED ER EST with DJs Miz Margo, Max Labor, and Frankie Teardrop

And speaking of important unimported imports who've certainly done their share of questionable Wang-VRangling alone in the frozen shadows, this week WIERD proudly welcomes the long-overdue return of our beloved heroes LED ER EST for a live performance at midnight! This will be the shady Port Isabelian Bushwacked boys from Laredo via Portland's first live performance at the party since 2010, and they're midway through a string of 8 east coast dates playing trax off their latest crazy full-length The Diver and needless to say this is an uncommonly dusty homecoming of sorts for all of us. Veryraryansky will be joined by the lovely Ms. Taylor Brode of SB and our beloved old hero of WIERD years past Samuel kK of Led Er Est on the wheels of the VR World to spin a soundtrack to the sweaty-sweet syrupy-smooth desires flowin free and easy downtown. WIERD Presents The VReturn of FURTHER REDUCTIONS with DJs Hayden Payne and Frankie Teardrop

So VRumour has it the WIERD miraculously survived the wild week of musical mayhem that was the kickass Chaos in Tejas Festival 2012 down in Austin last week, hard to believe. Congrats once again to our hero Mr. Timmy H. for once again organizing the best fest in the land, no idea how the amazing madman does it all alone and sponsorship free, it truly may be the VR8th wonder of the world. Sincere apologies to everyone who's be grudgingly dissapointed we didn't drown in a nasty pool of sweat to finally end it all and become Very Rare at last after profusely babblin away all these years. I was indeed feeling we would, and kinda hopin for kicks that the end was nigh, but guess I'll have to wander around in this sorry old digitally compressed, superimposed and pulverized ephemeral excuse of an abstract body a for a few more shady years. Though in this day and age its gettin harder to tell the dead from the living anyway so who the fuck knows maybe we're already VR, even though we're not VR, but Wierd is you go gurl awsum...ugh sorry smack me and I'll shut up I just rolled outa bed and Wierd was on the morning news, stoked we're totally approaching the epicly dignified entertainment levels of beach blanket bingo and sketchy coke-fueled helicopter rides, ugh its too early for this I gotta sleep a few more hours the end really is on the horizon...Her eruditely bug-bitten majesty Ms. Bev wrote a few nice fest updates here.:

http://www.vice.com/read/chaos-daily-dispatch-3

That being bled, a half inch above as well as brutally scarred, poisoned and mosquito-weltorama-infested with filthy hot Texan pleasure, on a slightly more buttoned up and 'well-mannered' note, just a quick reminder the French Open is in its second week now as we head into the final round of 16 this afternoon. As Shady Lady P reminds you all every year, as an homage to the most eminently restrained and disciplined annual event in all the world that triumphantly unfolds on the fertile battlefields of richly ripened red clay that is the 16th arrondissement each summer, Wierd Records mailorder is closed this week, for as you all know by now no underground musical event imaginable will ever hold a candle to the chillingly virile drama deep inside court Philippe Chatrier at Roland Garros...VR.
http://www.rolandgarros.com

Ok ladies, tonight WIERD welcomes the inordinately long-overdue VReturn of our beloved friends of WIERD years' past FURTHER REDUCTIONS for the band's 1st live performance at the party since 2010! Shawn tells me there's an entire new cold kingdom of trax to be unleashed at last this evening, with the SH101s flailing and voxtastic garlands of rose petals soaring, so get there early. Oh also of course dunno how you guys feel about it but the flipside idea however for tonight's party is perhaps, as suggested by the band's elusive moniker, and as it often more and more undeniably seems music is forever doomed to be imprisoned (in parentheses) in this dark day and age of 2012, and many of us have devoted our lives to tennis as a default escape from the icy black apocalypse impending, as everyone well knows by now Katie is not so secretly effortlessly taking over the scandalously glamorous world of daytime television dramas since launching her wildly successful acting career late last year, and the Master NoEQ himself is rapidly revolutionizing the massive new BK culinary underground scene. So I was thinking, maybe instead of a live show tonight Shawn could just whip up a nice big and deliciously decadent cheese and Pâté spread buffet and Ms. Rosebot can charmedly glide through the fog and do a few quick explosively emotional scenes to leave us all enraptured and it'll end in tears, ahhh I can't wait. See you all in our wonderful latenight world of Television for Women, and Music for Girls YES!

WIERD Presents The INCULPABLE with Epee du Bois and New Humans with DJs Justin Anastasi, Sybil Disobedience, and Frankie Teardrop

Ok Tonight old school WIERD is in the house as we welcome the long-overdue return of M. Epee du Bois who will be joined by New Humans for a maliciously maximal electronic double bill live at midnight! For the purposes of another excellent evening's unravelling at the electrified hands of Mika, Howie and Cheyney in our beloved experimental social space deep down inside the despicably abstract bowels of the fog and the mirrors, tonight's event shall be thus named as THE INCULPABLE - a celebration of the new anti-society-of-guilt, and a blackened end-all tidal wave summoning a swarm of infamously ominous figures traversing multiple worlds, all hailing from differing elusive dimensions of the frozen hot, and soon to be Very Rare, ever-bleakening kingdom heretofore known as "Public Space". VR.

In the words of none other than the VRiends of the Octopus themselves: "...But the Davis Dozen are also NOT GUILTY in a deeper, more profound sense related to the imperative for disobedience and non-compliance with the normal functioning of a system of social relations based, precisely, on guilt and debt - words with deep etymological ties...We, who have no other name than the inculpable, the debtors who refuse to pay because we are not guilty, stand in solidarity with the Davis Dozen in the struggle against the theological narrative that Capitalism has taken-up to its own religious ends. The cultic psychosis of capitalism as the one and only true religion spreads through blind self-contradiction, without any horizon other than the infinitely deferred bottom line, and those who make the slightest trespass will be made an example of, as is happening currently to the Davis Dozen."

This weekend will be one of the wildest festivals of pure mayhem WIERD history, as tomorrow morning we're all gettin on a shady plane to cruise down to Austin for the great Timmy Heffner's lovely little latenight fête known as CHAOS IN TEJAS 2012!!! WIERD is teaming up with a bunch of our pleasure-seeking allies to put on two crazy showcases at Cheer Up Charlie's on fri. and Parish on sat. This is set to be hands-down the most explosive end-all event ever and final FTW summit for the gutter-loving worlds of punk, black metal, noise, coldwave, and minimal electronics, and to be perfecty frank, I do not think there is a chance in cocked and lubed hell we will survive. In which case no prob I'll leave my keys with Jasper tonight you guys can raid chez WIERD asap and have all my shit, though think Glenn already called the 7" archive but whatever...I seem to VRemember theres still a few swigs of that brainbombing liquer my mom scored me in Instanbul last week...oh and Sean's keys to Studio Xeno are in the glove compartment in the Jag which is parked in front of Spoonbill - just ask Jonas he'll be there mon. and can open the Xanten gateway...so for what its worth thanks for all the wild nights, its been VReal.

WIERD Presents the Weekly Party Debut of BEIGE with DJs Anarexia and Frankie Teardrop

Ok fresh blood in the WIERD World tonight kids as welcome the weekly party debut of BEIGE for a live performance at midnight, come on down and show these cute young boys some shady-lady man love VR style mmm hmm! Terrible Record's own CEO Ethan S. and co. have been consistently hovering around the darkened electronic periphery for the last couple years occasionally grumpily wakin up every few weeks to cough up the occasional burst of their trademark gloomily smacked out bleakwave a la a Perfectly Prescribed Jason Spaceman channeling "Coney Island Baby" or The Splendour of Fear on a bad mood day. Over the past few months however the habit has become a bit more spastically serious as the off-white weirdos have apparently started freebasing the mopey guitars outa the mix apparently cut with whatever cranky skuzz-crumbs they can find leftover in the shaggy minimal electronic carpet after the UK Acid dance party crashed out and Jacked the Tabs in from the night before, keeping the same rhythmically circular krautedelic structures intact for some long trippy fucked-up yet suspiciously restrained and controlled travelogues spiralling deep into the lonely WIERD night. See you all in the misty (house) of pleasure this evening :0...VR.

WIERD and TOXIC STATE Present Cleansing Wave and Goosebumps with DJs BBG, Zack and Glenn

This week WIERD's irregular monthly mess of blackened punk mayhem "Up the Punks' Ass" returns as we team up with sketchy madman Mike Hillerson and Co.'s Crazily Spirited TOXIC STATE label to present a wild double bill of a night featuring Cleansing Wave from Worchester, MA and NYC's Goosebumps with guest DJs BBG, Zack Freshkills and Glenn! Cleansing Wave are touring the east coast in support of their new 7" EP Heybaby and Goosebumps emerged from the womb of Hank and the Hammerheads have been putting on some of the most insane live shows in the city of late along with the likes of Dawn of Humans, Perdition and Crazy Spirit!

And as the WIERD's sitting here alone in the dark quietly lip synching "How Deep is Your Love" contemplating that it may finally be time to embrace ITs unavoidable future calling as the world's preeminent Barry Gibb impersonator while the tired eyez slowly scan the room to enter the radically bleak void that is the opening in the new 'Red Bull Total Zero' - the first ever beverage to promote itself with the added 'twist' that IT contains absolutely NOTHING, VR, it seems somehow approVRiate that for all of you out there in the aetherial abyss of death wonderin if the ethos of the new abstract anarchy truly still has the heat-seekingly heartfelt desire alive inside ITSelf to get beyond 'unfriending', tonight's your chance to come on down and see for yourself...I hope for the sake of the fleshly musical world it does, crustily clicked and dragged fingers crossed...but either way something tells me it should be an excellent hope-inducing nasty bloodbath of a night, don't forget to bring your bodies, the cold gods know we need them more that eVR.

WIERD Presents a Live Performance by HIVE MIND with DJs Miz Margo and Frankie Teardrop

This week WIERD proudly welcomes the long-overdue return of our old VRiend Greh Holger aka HIVE MIND for a live performance at midnight! Since he started the excellent Chondritic Sound imprint as well as Detroit's absolutely legendary venue Behind the Green Door back in the early naughts, which was one of my personal favorite clubs I've ever played, our beloved disease-riden soldier has been a pillar of black energy for the midwest noise scene and beyond for the greater part of a decade. Last year Greh joined the mass exodus of midwest heavyweights who defected to Los Angeles to embrace his new tenure as mayor of the dark side of the Sunset strip, holding down the fort at the venerable Vacation Records along with the great Pete Majors in Silver Lake. Greh is on the road performing songs from his last two releases Elemental Disgrace and They Made Me Keeper of the Vineyards - two ultra-heavy hurricanes of bleak power and sensitized despair. So come on down to the Wierd and close your tired eyes to let the visceral vacuum of beautiful death wash over your body...The Hive Mind/Liable for Abuse/Raven Strain tour has been makin its way across the country and will hit St. Vitus tomorrow night thurs. May 10th, joined by Ryan from DAIS's kick ass industrial outfit De Trop with DJs VRp and Ning Nong from Heaven Street Records, should be a wild night behind the Greenpoint door!

WIERD Presents the RØSENKØPF Record Release Party with DJs Hayden Payne and Frankie Teardrop

Tonight will be a Very Rare evening indeed as WIERD proudly presents the official RØSENKØPF record release party! I'm excited to finally unleash this wild beast of an album that's been a long time coming into the aether at last, truly hands down one of the most original releases on the label to date. Needless to say Saira, Soren and Emil have injected a much-needed hot blast of black leather and life into the Wierd World the past year, and I hope everyone can come out to help us celebrate the occasion with them. The record is officially out on tuesday May 15th, but we'll have the VR limited edition LP on transparent green and black flouride-vortex vinyl available at the club following the show for those of you courageous to make it down and wash your filthy mouths out with it, you'll be glad you did I assure you.

You can download the first two spine-crushing trax "Burning Spirits" and "Heed" below and check out the band's debut video for "Light the Way" courtesy of director Sofia Szamosi, as well as an excellent feature on the band by the great Zack Lipez.:

Hot Guts and SGNLS Live in the WIERD with DJs Pre-Op Trans, Hayden Payne, and Hi-Fi Hillary

Philly is a strange place the VR world has never been able to crack, for whatever everyone I've ever known there's been just tryin to escape from IT all forever, which I've never quite understood as they have one of the most incredible art museums in the world, legendary figures like Jane Tesco, David A. Williams and Jonathan Canady live there, and they have hands down the most fantastically crazy and violent homeless people anywhere to have a nice little polite lunch with in the park following your little jaunt through the masochistic perils of Colonialist furniture, the painterly rigours of late Cezanne and the triumphant perversions of Duchamp's Étant donnés, which makes a pretty fun city in my book mmm hmm, but hey what do I know?, alas. Regardless this week the WIERD rips a new frozen hot sliver in the Liberty Bell as our long-time VRiends from the shady PA crew roll into town for the first ever Philthydelphia Freedom from Freedom Festival, with Hot Guts and SGNLS live at midnight! This will be the official record release party for Hot Guts's debut LP entitled Edges on Heaven Street's President Ragon himself's venerable Blind Prophet label in the BK, from whom SGNLS new full-length is soon to follow as well in the late spring. Both bands put on a wild tornado of a live show revamping down and ruffying up classic sythwave and minimal electronics with a loose canon of darkened punk and early 90s skuzzrock shrapnel, should be another excellent war of the WIERDs tonite...and special thanks to Jeffrey Jinx for the inspiration and Voidly Visionary nomenclaturial abuse for this one. ;0. This evening we're also celebrating the birthday of our beloved hero and lovely soundman, who little do most of you likely know honestly almost single-handedly holds this entire fragile world together week in and out, simply one of my favorite people on the planet - her VRajesty Ms. Hi-Fi Hillary, happy birthday darling! XO

For those of you whose glowing hands are eminently glued to your downcast faces and you thereby get this in time, today we inaugurate a new weekly WIERD Records Happy Hour as Søren from RØSENKØPF takes over the Wednesday day shift at Home Sweet Home to fire up the Burning Sprits all day long with DJ Mike Calazzo, come on down and get so drunk you can't even come to the party, thereby literally making your presence Very Rare in the WIERD tonite at last.

Xeno & Oaklander hit the road for the midwest on thurs. making their long-overdue debuts in Pittsburgh, Milwaukee and Chicago. The Milwaukee event will be very special indeed as Sean and Liz will present a comprehensive demonstration and lecture on the ins and out of analog synthesis at the University of Wisconsin.:

WIERD, Sacred Bones, and Mannequin Present the US Debut of UV POP with DJs Alessandro Adriani, Caleb Braaten, and Frankie Teardrop

Over the past few years WIERD has been inordinately privileged to host performances by so many of the true pioneers who forged the Very Rare soundtrack to our world that has played out over the course of too many wild nights to remember. Few however remain hidden jewels in the VR crown with the gravitas of the music of the amazing John K. White. It's honestly hard even to imagine the Wierd party without songs like "Portrait", "Sleep Don't Talk", and the absolute masterpiece and hands-down double-edged sword of a late night anthem of the party forever, the great "Serious", spinning the cold world smoothly away. Listening anew to this enigmatic band from Sheffield, UK nearly 30 years later that produced two flawless full-lengths and a plethora of impossible to come by cassettes and singles, John and co. sound like an underwater island deep in the middle of the explosive musical mecca of the early 80s that has finally risen to the surface untarnished. Far removed sonically at the time seemingly from both the detached, post-ironic pomp and snark of New Wave and the often gratuitously post-apocalyptic, liquored up and turned out hooligan-on-halloween bravura of British post-punk, UV Pop forged a sound much more restrained, private, and dark, and quite akin to the isolated efforts of a few lone spirits behind closed doors over on the Vaguely Froide continent...in my ears' mind it's always felt like the sound of a fragile, sensitized internal world barely held together, and on the verge of falling apart, yet still fighting with fuck-all pleasure to enjoy every last moment with no end in sight, maybe a sound too close to home for discomfort. And home is where the WIERD is, so I hope everyone can make it out to celebrate the impending, Ultra Violent collapse at last, live in the flesh tonight.

So it is with pleasure this evening that WIERD, Sacred Bones and Mannequin Records, Italy proudly present the US Debut of UV Pop at Midnight! This event will be the official re-release party for the band's long-deleted full-length debut LP No Songs Tomorrow, remastered and reloaded jointly from Sacred Bones and Mannequin this week. To make the event a bit spicier, perhaps paralleling the predictably irregular negation of our unpolitically 'central' air that apparently shuts down each week after 200+ steamy bodies pass through the shady gates to burn up the frozen floor - guard your daughters, drugs and drum machines as our beloved long-time Italian madman himself, Mannequin overlord Alessandro Adriani has flown in from Rome to Spin the WIERD away with Caleb and Frankie, live through this kiddies...'serious'ly. DAIS and WIERD Present a live Performance by KING DUDE with DJs Minimal Syb and Frankie Teardrop

This week WIERD is proud to welcome at long last the great T.J. Cowgill aka KING DUDE for a live performance at midnight! Ryan from DAIS and I have been tryin to get the master of west coast apocalyptic lonerwave across the lost highway of this abstract land forever, and last night the shadowy, restrained VRanger himself fell off his drunken horse and landed on a flight from Seattle for a wild one night stand in the WIERD. T.J.'s latest fantastic full-legth out on DAIS this past November entitled Love was one of the most triumphantly sad and chillingly cryptic releases of last fall, and has seemingly re-energized the broken spirit of the darkened folk tradition. Somehow combining the oft-tired Noddy-bleak romanticism of the English tradition with an optimistic blast of pure outsider heat-seeking affectation-less on-yr-knees Americana, King Dude feels like a much needed breath of icy life blown through the black ice. Imagine if Douglas Pearce cast John Fahey, Johnny Cash, and a young Tony Wakeford post Swastikas for Jenny Craig in one of his lovingly filthy Aussie adult dramas, and the eminently stoic and handsome lovechild somehow escaped with some semblance of both his manhood and liver intact with Lawrence from Felt in tow on guitar...please come on down and meet the major Dude who also brought you Actual Pain, crooning and backed by a full band in the WIERD World tonite.

Wierd Presents the Live Debut of ITALIAN HORN with DJs Glenn and Frankie Teardrop

Tonite WIERD welcomes the great Anthony Pappalardo aka ITALIAN HORN for his first ever live performance at midnight with a full band in tow! This evening will be the official record release party for Anthony's excellent new LP The Bells of Spring out last week thanks to on our long-time allies Ryan and Gibby at DAIS Records. Anthony has long been a journalistically Very Rareudite pillar in the America punk and hardcore world, penning such monster works of seminal subcultural historia as the great Radio Silence and Live...Suburbia. When moonlighting from the written word Italian Horn is an equally carefully crafted, high end heavy and privately no-fi work of bedroom lonerwave longing. Located somewhere in between obscure masters such as My Dad is Dead or early Little Nemo in the no, and maybe early Guided by Voices if Bob Mould baled from Land Speed Record era Hüsker Dü and showed up to croon underwater on 16 rpms...fuck if I know how to describe it come on down to ladies night in the dirty WIERD kingdom of Queens and 'C' for yourself, should be a lovely evening indeed!

WIERD Presents the Long-Overdue Return of I.U.D. with DJs Glenn Veryraryansky and Frankie Teardrop

Tonight in the WIERD proudly welcomes the lovely ladies of the pre-coital tornado of ritualistic industrial confusion I.U.D. for a live performance at Midnight! I.U.D. is the Very Rare dueling-femme-percussive slinky slide project of Lizzi B. of Gang Gang Dance and Sadie from Growing, with many surprise guests dropping by to strap one on and give IT a shootin-blanks shot. Sadie and Lizzi made one crazy hot mess of a record entitled The Perfect Sex a couple years back an played a few infamous gigs, and dissappeared into the aethereally aborted void, only to reappear a year later reconceived in our WIERD uterine world, we'll see if the birthing canal's still blocked in Ms. Chystie 131, you never know with that Shady Lady lord knows, despite our new mechanized wheelchair ramp in the foyer, she's not very rareful mmm hmm... I seem to VRemember a certain foggy conversation in a latenight daze a while back when after hearing the record I immediately déjà-reacted it had a bit of the scabby lysergic flair of mid-period Butthole Surfers circa "Locust Abortion Technicians". And in typically brilliant fashion she replied, "Please VRp...that makes no sense man wtf?, periods are impossible for us, thats the whole idea, duh - no punctuation, no editing, nothin! I mean we're all for gettin' it on with insects sure, maybe an occasional comma whateves, but nothin's gonna come of it, its impossible...got IT?" And on another less pesticidal note, this evening may prove to be a long-overdue reunion of sorts (I hope) for a bygone era a few of you kids may VRemember for the fantastic Artwierld dynasty known as AFA recongeals in the fog and lights...maybe our beloved Lord Colin de Land will be watching down from on high, literally. I know he'd be lurking and sardonically smirking in the shadows proud. VR.

Martial Canterel and Das Ding Live in the WIERD with DJs Pre-Op Trans and Goutroy

In the 2012 world of a brutally pulverized self phantasmafroidically distributed unfortuno-democratically throughout the fading screens of the aetherial world, this week the WIERD returns to ITs old self. The problem with this is the story of the WIERD's life - IT is perhaps the only place in the (world) that categorically one could never return to, simply because of the fact IT never existed in the first place...VR. Apparently more and more, the response to this conITundrum is to mourn the IT you never had's loss "Man I miss those days when IT felt..." And this is the new abstract paradigm: negotiating the mixed emotions that arise from the incessantly reoccurring memory of an event that never happened, and as the daze wears on the flames from the second degree burn start to ripen, pustulate and shred apart the second floor neural cervix between your ears, and you hear the the pervy fierce grandaddy of them all coming up the stairs, "...hello beautiful, we've never met, but oh my, how I know you wish we would have...my goodness the things you'd do to me gurl mmm hmm...".

Tonite WIERD proudly presents a radically unadaddied déjà-vu-you celebration of the minimal electronic world past and VResent ITself as we welcome a wild double bill of our beloved master of the analogic lexicon himself Mr. MARTIAL CANTEREL and legendary cult Dutch minimal synth maestro Danny Bosten aka DAS DING for a dueling live performance extravaganza at midnight! DD and MC met when Xeno & Oaklander played Rotterdam in 2010, and last week the Neder-Marylandian duo resumed the Das Ding-ian détournement when Sean backed up Danny's set for the sold out Minimalwave Tapes Volume II release party at 285 Kent. This evening Sean and Danny will play two separate sets at 12 and 12:30 retrospectively, so make sure and get there early to assure you get a killer seat way the fuck back there right up in front so you can't look back and see anything but everything, and remember if you get there late and miss IT, don't worry...IT never happened anyway. WIERD Presents the Vaura 'Selenelion' Record Release Party with DJs Nick McMaster, Mark Splatter, and Frankie Teardrop

Tonight is a big one in VR Central as WIERD presents the Vaura Selenelion record release party with a live performance by the band at midnight! This epic 2xLP/56 minute journey through a kaleidoscopic eclipse of blackened psychedelic darkness was recorded and mixed by the great Colin Marston of Krallice at Menegroth: The Thousand Caves and effortlessly traverses all heretofore established boundaries between coldwave, black metal, industrial/noise, and progressively charged post-rock. All I can say is I'm truly proud to have been able to be a part of this wild record that has been nearly a year in the making, and it's a Very Rare feeling to finish something of this magnitude and unleash it into the world at last. I hope everyone can come on down to the WIERD this evening and help us celebrate!

This is a very special week for WIERD as we welcome our long-time allies from the lovely Ms. Blix Ellerson's Brave Exhibitions scene in Berlin and The Future Echo crew from the great Mr. Michael Giebl's highly regarded party in Vienna, together responsible for hosting so many excellent shows and parties for touring Wierd bands and DJs the past few years, and representing the Very Rare heart and spririt of minimal electronic Europe! We've been tryin to get these guys over to NYC forever and late last night 14 of our favorite Neue Deutsche Wierdos rolled into a loft down the street here in the BK and are ready to bring it on wed.! So it with pleasure that this week Brave Exhibitions and WIERD present the US live debuts of VELVET CONDOM and AAEAEAA(Martin from Selfish Cunt) with guest DJs Blix and A Nurse Called Mike for a krautastic double bill at midnite!

Please pay the site a visit, many hours of rich listening to be enjoyed.

WIERD Presents the DYSGENIX Record Release Party with DJs Anarexia and Glenn

I used to know this fantastically pathetic, truly sad guy for a few years a while back who would routinely walk over to my house and ring my buzzer every other week or so. I'd let him in, no questions asked. He'd quietly shuffle in and politely take a seat on my couch, and I'd give him a glass of warm water in a slightly dirty glass as he liked it. I would say nothing the whole time, just sit down across from him in my fuzzy green chair and kind of act like I was paying attention. Then for the next hour or so he'd would apologize...and apologize profusely, for everything he's ever done, over and over...it was amazing. I was silent. And when the hour was over he would get up, whisper "thank you" one time, give me a nervous, slighty sweaty hug, and leave. I always liked our time together very much, and I miss him. And in those certain VR moments of a daze lately I'm sorry he is gone. Really sorry. So sorry...I swear I'm so...

Tonite WIERD presents a completely fucked-up mess of such inexcusable sonic depravity that I suppose I should apologize in advance of pressing the buzzer that is your silent minds at midnite...I'm sorry ok, Look I'm not perfect we all got problems, bad things happen to good people and their unpleasant little lives play out accordingly and we do things we shouldn't - so here you go. Perhaps knowing this, and with an ultra-shady all-star cast of despicable characters playing their own self-proclaimed form of "Idiot Savant Garde" electronic music straight outa the deepest rotting rectum regions of the Red Light District and across the putrifying pancreas of the midwest in tow, this evening's carnival including the likes of the 711 Boys, Mr. L, Hick Bizarros, DJ Dogdick and none other than the infamous Tom Raper himself on blowcals...god knows they never play for a reason ugh why would they?, I actually thought, and I'd say, that they're broken up, but that was wishful thinking apparently. Honestly maybe just broken's more like IT...though hmmm come to think of it, if a band's already 'broken' how could they ever properly break up anyway???...VR.

So IT turns out they're not and THEY'RE BACK!, and I know a few of you twitchy lurkers have been waiting forever for this one, and it's with absolutely apologetic pleasure the WIERD Presents DYSGENIX and DJ Dogdick for a double bill disaster at midnite! This event will be the official record release party for Dysgenix's long-awaited new full-length Dysgenik Epidemik out today on Ryan Andrews's Special Affekts Produktions label in Chicago, and Max Dick just moved his dirty gimp of a dog up to BK from Baltimore as it apparently ate a hole in his greazy power bottom moustache, so please give him a nasty spank and make him take a shower! So come on down tonite to see just how bad IT can get. You know - it might actually make you feel good about yourself, and guaranteed to be a truly awful experience to make you a worse person than you already are, so you got that goin for you too, awesome. Again, I'm sorry, I don't know what to say...except this record is absolutely horrible...and I live for horrible things, there's not many of them left. VR.

Maineline the WIERD with TABOO and ANCESTRAL DIET with DJs Jeralyn and Frankie Teardrop!

Few shows in recent memory come more enshrouded in mystery than this evening's WIERD holds in store. Thus far we have but a scattered handful of darkly shining VRagments word of mouth style from the likes of the Red Light District and the Rosenkopf crew's seasonal Solstice pilgrimages up to the great black North to go on, to piece together a brittle, private image of Maine's isolationist electronic punk underground. Tales of complex occult-driven ritualistic performances deep in the deliciously seething blood of the woods, often lasting days, so varied from one to the next ITs quite impossible to convey, and with scantly any internet presence to speak of(gasp...)...and just a few charmed beholders in attendance beyond the eyes of the earthly elements fortunate enough to gaze onto the mise-en-scène unfolding.

Something tells me a New England's Hidden Reverse is congealing, and it was with pleasure we recently heard rumours they're comin out of the forest, and hitting the cold road to seep into the bulbously welcoming veins of our Very Rare World... So tonite WIERD Maineline's the darkness as we welcome the double-billed intensity of TABOO and ANCESTRAL DIET for a seamless live performance at midnite! I hope everyone can make out for this one, you're in for the frighteningly wild ride of a lifetime.

WIERD Presents the Weekly Party Debut of THE STERLING SISTERS with DJs Nikki Sneakers and Frankie Teardrop

IT really is Very Rare nowadaze when you luck into seeing a band who really has a sound thats so perplexingly unique it's difficult to place in the limitless aether of history, and upon hearing their darkly splendid set a few weeks back at the Stolen Sleeves Collective tonite's performers certainly entered such a realm, as they properly dissolved the WIERD's nervous system in a unforetold chilling way. That being said, and as thus imperceptibly dead, the crusty soiled Sleeves I stole are anything but and still stuck in my fukin head, and there's only one way to gettem out...so this evening we're proud to welcome them back to NYC, as WIERD presents a live performance by THE STERLING SISTERS from Baltimore at midnight! The inordinately(honestly bordering on inappropriately) handsome front line of this young quintet of 20 year olds-far-beyond-their-years consists of the dueling vocal dialectics of Ms. Scout Paré-Phillips's classically soaring, icily fragile thunder vs. George Cessna's raspy deep-southern backwoods fuck-all croon - a wildly dynamic battle of opposing fleshly forces that plays out something like this: one of Lagerfeld's loveliest ladies, secretly moonlighting on hiatus from Julliard post Ph.D whateves - defected out of charmed boredom with the bland burdens of the couture image, hits the road for Deliverance from abstraction with her inbred, barefoot half-brother who's been locked up for life in a West Virginian bomb shelter with just a couple dirty ole cassettes by Chet Baker and the Violent Femmes to breathe through...they hitch a ride with the fantastically slutty, gun-toting nutbag niece of Steve Reich apparently raised on nothin but Comus, Michael Nyman, Requiem in White, and Naughty Noddy-era Current 93 when they still had IT circa '93 in the glove compartment and follow the river wherever it flows...Already forever lost in the taboo black love of a burgeoning sibling relationship, a month of blue caine and bloody bedsheets to the wind, the two strangle the disease-ridden third Reich with a sticky sixpack yoke just as the monster-truck-in-denial goes over a cliff into muddy apocalyptic oblivion, RIP. Needless to say, stories like this don't come around often, so stumble on in and rewind the drama bare...and dare...to get Very Rare...mmm hmm. VR.

WIERD Presents a Live Performance by VEILED with DJs Pre-Op Trans and Frankie Teardrop

The WIERD World has been blissfully lost in the starlit mire of a pustulating muck of darkened punk, noise and deathrock desires the last few months, but tonite the great IT returns to the sound of our roots as we proudly welcome to the weekly WIERD party debut of VEILED for a live performance at midnight! From the combination of just a few pixillatedly soiled, fetishy pics and a nervous hangnail full of hot 'n bothered trax floating around out there in the claustrophobic mehscape there seems to be quite an ominously elusive ooohze around band's forthcoming debut record in the nether downtown(below the belt, not Houston that is) VRegions, now set for release later this year from Sean Ragon's slowly expanding Blind Prophet Empire, and it's sure to be one of the year's new modern minimal electronic classics. Hailing from Barcelona and Philly respectively Arnau and Rob summon the triumphantly wet and seething last-night-on-earth snuff film blackoffery of the current Miami scene, scrape it off with rusted shards of classic mid 90s European death industrial and bend it over a lysergically sticky 5am barstool rotting with garlands of flimsy wristed, first wave tranny chasing New Beat for quite a hot latenight session of analogic abuse. Just to make sure the evening is extra nice and naughty we're unleashing our wild young aspiring debutante of the Angelino evening Ms. PRE-OP TRANS from her ivory tower of sadistically Very Rare Gatekeeping for a long-overdue guest BJ appearance to charm you all to frigid death in the misty midnite hour...ah the night ahead, VR.

The release date for the long-awaited debut album from VAURA is now set for Feb. 28th! You can download two trax from the record "Vanth" and "Obsidian Damascene Sun" below, and a trailer for the kaleidoscopic eclipse of blackened psychedelic energy that is the gatefold 2xLP and CD are available courtesy of Romanian video artist Costin Chioreanu. Nearly a year in the making, this wildly epic 56 minute journey was recorded and mixed by the great Colin Marston of Krallice at Menegroth:The Thousand Caves in Woodhaven, NY and effortlessly traverses all heretofore established boundaries between coldwave, black metal, industrial/noise, and darkly progressive post-rock. The 2xLP is available in an edition of 500 copies with 200 on bloody transluscent pink and opaque blue burst vinyl housed in a classic Stoughton 2 pocket gatefold jacket. WIERD Welcomes the VReturn of ANASAZI with DJs Goutroy and Frankie Teardrop

Ok so get this so the WIERD's at the sad little trendy click n drag alone minus-the-trannies-or-physical-interaction style cafe getting my bushwacked this morning and the twinky-twitch, pleasure-seeking skuzzpunk behind the counter's looking way dazed at the human garbage who's babbling obscenities over the #sonictemperature of her Chai Latte and -- NO WAY OMGet this -- at this precise moment Jasper texts me that the amazing Chi's gonna be Late tonite so the band can't do a proper soundcheck without his vocals ablaze in the WIERD and "who the hell knows if it'll sound any good we'll wing it buddy ha!"...VRoincidence or???:0... So I get to the front of the line after Squirty McChi apparently gets her heat injection from cRusty McDischarge t-shirt via a sketchy hotpad who asks..."alright, so what can I get for you? Ugh, just please don't say you want 'hot water on the side' gawd I hate when she comes in here"..."Oh no man I don't really mind the sticky floor, story of my life whatever - just was gonna ask if you could turn the vocals up a bit its so chilly paper thin, can you give it a little bottom end?"..."DUDE. Listen. Like I just told her the heats busted, we only got Cold stuff today ok, sorry...not my fault. NEXT!". Foiled again, alas. VR. :/

That being (hopefully not) read, and on time or latte with the cold and wafa thin frosty VResh sound you've come to love us for for years, WIERD proudly welcomes our beloved Chi, Jasper, Christian and the wild heat-seeking tornado of Ancient Navajowave unsanity that is ANASAZI for a Live Performance at Midnite!!! WIERD Presents a Live Performance by CHRISTIANA KEY with DJs Miz Margo and Frankie Teardrop

This week's WIERD is dedicated to everyone who practices Self-Gifting but does not unwrap the package. (Prisonguard fetishists exempted of course you already get IT). You are an inspiration to us all, god bless your kinky hearts...now go buy yourself that little special something you always wanted...good boy I'll take that thank you very much, now get back in your cage!...oh you're welcome, don't mention IT my pleasure darling. VR.

And speaking of the neverending joys of imprisonment tonite's performance may be a way out, literally, as WIERD is proud to welcome the ever-lovely Ms. CHRISTIANA KEY for a live performance at midnite! Apart from her fiercely demure command over the Noddy-folked world as Violin-wielding vixen in Cult of Youth, of the The Key to the Very Rare floodgates opened a couple months ago when Christiana made her chill-inducing solo debut along with Kevin Hufnagel and Feast of the Epiphany at Vaudeville Park in the BK. Singlehandedly combining dual microphone and accoustic guitar looping and manipulation with violin and drum machine, our Lady in Neon tells me that this evening's performance will begin a solitary passage of metamorphosis and transformation culminating in her explosive rebirth as the Delphic Sybil. ITs getting cold out there kiddies so we always say, slide on in on the freshly blackened ice and to say goodbye to our elusive little wintery wild child - will the darkly splendid dictates of Hubris reap the best of her to throw away the Key to the Heathen-Pagan night forever???...my goodness how could you possibly resist. WIERD Welcomes the Return of FIELDED(Chicago) with DJs Samuel kKlovenhoof and Frankie Teardrop

Happy New WIERD everyone! The WIERD Party returns this week to kick off another Very Rare year of dark musical pleasures as we're proud to welcome back FIELDED from Chicago! The lovely Ms. Lindsay Powell(also of Ga'an/Festival) put on one of the most incredibly haunting performances of 2011 on an amazing bill with KTAOABC from Belgium last April, and she's back tonite with her new band for one final NYC gig before departing for her new home in Los Angeles on friday. Lindsay tells me along with a few new trax she'll be playing songs of the the new Fielded split LP with Alex Barnett on Nihilist Records. Its a great album for sure as her chillingly soaring vocals float to a whole new level over an organically pulsing arsenal of ominously oozing electronics. And VRarewell is certainly the theme of the evening as we also welcome one last guest DJ appearance by our beloved long-time friend Mr. Samuel kKlovenhoof of Led Er Est before he makes his move back to the dusty barren plains of Texas next week. Come give the handsome Prince of Port Isabel one last big, sloppy WIERD hug, we're all gonna miss him after all these years in the smoke and mirrors of our frozen sweet home...VR.

It was just one day ago back in 2003 that the first proper WIERD Party went down at the legendary Southside Lounge under the bridge in the dirty old daze BK, and though ITs getting more and more hysterically difficult to say precisely who is here and who is not, even when they're right in front of you blissfully fuckin the VReal away as they twitch and drool into a tiny pool of parenthetical ooze, so lovingly bathed in the shadylady glow of a skittishly tethered oblivion...VRumours have it we still got IT, we're 'here'(no not 'here', duh), and its time to party, VR.

So tonite WIERD welcomes you all the WIERD PARTY 8 YEAR ANNIVERSARY featuring a live performance by PLASTIC FLOWERS from Tallahassee, Florida at Midnite! Tonite WIERD welcomes the weekly party debut of none other than DE TROP for a live performance at midnight!!! De Trop is the new death industrial-injected modular electronics project of WIERD's longtime ally and beloved friend Mr. Ryan Martin who along with the great Gibby Miller runs the venerable DAIS Records label WIERD has long been a fan of, and who we teamed up with on the excellent Psychic TV show this past summer. DT have only played a few gigs in the highly regarded shadowly likes of The Red light District et al, and for this evening's performance they will play a new set of sputteringly pustulating pools of nasty ooze as a 3 piece with vocals, hidden down and dirty in the electricity-fueled Eurorack bunker. I hope everyone can make IT out to close your eys and feel the low end rumbling blast and drone flow over your (body) alive with pleasure.

Tonite WIERD is proud to host the first night of TESCO USA's 10 Year Anniversary Festival, featuring the US debut of DOGPOP(feat. members of Genocide Organ) from Germany! Dogpop traverse the sounds of classic minimal electronics, old school industrial and Neue Deutsche Welle, and should make for a Krautastically celebratory evening to kickoff four nights that will showcase an ultra solid, who's who line-up of artists, DJs, labelheads and writers from the worlds of power electronics, Noise, Martial industrial, Neofolk, and Dark Ambient music that have populated the ever-expansive Tesco universe the past decade. The fest will run through the weekend in various venues in NYC and end in Philly on sat., and a full line-up of all activities and concerts is up over at Tesco central, along with a teaser for the forthcoming God Blast America DVD that will be available to commemorate this momentous occasion.:
http://www.tesco-distro.com/god/blast/america/

In addition to all the incredible bands soon to sexually assault your welcoming, pleasure-starved bodies and minds with a thunderous onslaught of Industrial Darkness this weekend, I'd like to suggest that above all this festival should truly be seen as a tribute to WIERD's longtime, forever-beloved ally, and the curator of this excellent fest - the ever-humble, lovely Empress of Tesco USA herself Ms. Jane Elizabeth. Jane's amazing efforts, passion and tireless love of this specific music so important to so many of us have almost single-handedly kept this world alive and available in the US for the past 10 years. Long before noise was re-energized and got back on its feet in the mid-naughts, Jane was organizing countless shows and DJ nights, flying bands in from Europe to play the US for the first time, and helping so many triumphantly taboo unknown artists from here and abroad to be heard, and her spirit should be an inspiration to fans of underground music everywhere. Back in the dark days of the WIERD when show after show went by, year after year, with just a handful of courageous VR loners on hand in support late into the night, Jane was always there in every way. So everyone please come on out this evening as we all raise a glass to the Queen of NYC Industrial music and beyond...Jane darling, this WIERD's for you, Very Rare indeed!

Tonite WIERD proudly welcomes the weekly party debut of BLACK MARBLE for a live performance at midnight! Mr. Ty Kube and co. are one of the latest and best additions to the BK synthwave lexicon and have a few new triumphantly bleak, tear-jerkingly sensitized, excellent new trax floating around out there online in the slippery aether that are undeniably infectious. Just in time for the autumnal air that's upon us at last, recent and forthcoming releases by the likes of Tropic of Cancer, Plastic Flowers and HTRK suggest indeed that the cold guitar wave has been reenergized and is refroidifying ITself to slide back out on the frosty black ice and shimmer alive with pleasure once again. "Pretender", "MSQ No Extra", and "Backwards" are amongst the closest things I've heard to invoking the ultra-private, handmade and barely-held-together lo-fi intensity and spirit in the likes of legendary greats Péché Mortel, Quantom 1+3, and Nagamatzu...as always the WIERD is inordinately unhelpful in giving you an idea what to expect this evening (yeah right...'click'..."hey wow jeez thats some pretty 'good stuff', awsum.", VR.) See you all in the WIERD World, Veryrarealyn and Our Lovely Lady in Sneakers sans Sneakers are in the house to look down upon you from on VRigh behind the wheel, dress to repress, should be another lovely mess.

And as a final VReminder of sorts this sat. night November 5th Brooklyn Vegan and WIERD will be presenting the NYC debut of Anatomy of Habit from Chicago on an ultra hot and heavy bill with Vaura and RØSENKØPF at St. Vitus thats undeniably in the running for show of the year! Along with the likes of the mindmelting gigs we've hosted in the past year by Locrian and Mirrorgate there's an explosive new world being born amidst this amazing trio or groups that each effortlessly traverse the soon-to-be-destabilized genres of doom, post-punk, and industrial/noise ,and its a solidly blistering force to contend with. So please everyone come on out, I assure you this will be a show to remember for a long time! Pay a visit to the BV link below and get a habit for yourself, as you sit back to enjoy the bliss of the darkness tearing you apart.:

This evening...ah the lovely autumnal pleasures of this evening are here at last and patiently await you all indeed...the wild, WIERD World welcomes the ominously chilling return of the amazing RØSENKØPF for a live performance at midnight! One of the most truly enigmatic new bands in NYC who have graced us with their intensely stoic presence in recent months are back, feel blessed as these leather-clad mindwarriors slash apart the brittle sonic space in front of your twitchy little face and open new profanely destabilized landscapes of cryptically luscious darkness and doom to ruin your twisted nerves for weeks to come. The band is midway through recording their debut full-length here in the bushedly-wacked hood and its sounding thunderously incredible, and inordinately difficult to descibe honestly. For everyone whos politely VRenquired the past few weeks yes we now have a box of the VRexcellent Dispiritualized demo cassette that came out this past summer available over on the distro section of the WIERDsite to hold you over and keep you restrainedly ruined til the album explodes this spring to put you all into your long-awaited triumphant sublime misery at last. Bring your helmets...yeah the one you saw in that dream..."...yes yes, that one - as long as its purple and green..." Never mind, you'll see what I mean, deep in the deliciously bleak depths of the WIERD bunker tonite!

Tonite WIERD welcomes the return of simply one of our fave bands in the world THE SOFT MOON from San Francisco for a live performance at midnight! The amazing Luis, Justin and Damon simply need no introduction at this point. The frozen hot, mesmerizing bliss of a rusted razorblade guitar scrape and synthburn shrapnel shower never felt so perfect as in their new trax which VRumours have it we may be so lucky as to feel a few flow over us this evening, so get there early and get yr sad little nervous systems ready to absorb the intensity, ITS going be a crazy one something tells me.
